Guidance

​IS 289 has one full-time Guidance Counselor, Emily Kustal (ekustal@is289.org). Parents are urged to meet with Emily to discuss questions or concerns about a child.  Students are also encouraged to meet with the Guidance Counselor to discuss any concerns they may have about social, emotional and academic issues at school or elsewhere.  Students must make an appointment and have a pass to visit Guidance.

BRAVE Against Bullying (212) 709-3222 2:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday Building Respect, Acceptance, and Voice through Education (BRAVE) is a hotline launched by the Mental Health Association of NYC and the UFT. Trained professionals provide crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, and supportive listening.
