Weekly Newsletter Archive

The PTA sends a weekly newsletter to parents typically on Sunday nights. It includes up-to-date information about school and PTA events and activities. If you are an IS 289 parent and are not currently receiving our newsletter, contact pta@is289.org.

PTA Budget

Each year the Principal reviews the school's budget and asks the PTA to supplement costs that are not covered in the allotment given to the school by the New York City Department of Education. Once approved by the Executive Board, the budget is presented to the general membership at a general PTA meeting. A majority of those attending must approve the budget. And once the budget is approved, parents have made a commitment to raising the funds, whether by personal donations or fundraising events and initiatives. Without the involvement and generous participation of our community these programs would not be possible. If you haven't already, please consider making a Direct Appeal Donation. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Nominating Committee

A Nominating Committee is formed each spring to elicit nominations for the PTA Executive Board and School Leadership Team (SLT).

Open positions will be posted on the website as they become vacant. Annual nominations close at the end of the May General Meeting. Email us for more information or to nominate yourself at pta@is289.org.
